"Networks alter the nature of work by disconnecting intellectual
activity from physical location and enabling people of different
skills, interests, and authority to cross barriers of geography,
language, organizational loyalty, and specialization. This takes
place in much the same way that the automobile disconnected shopping
and work from residential neighborhoods.
Take the name of any business function and add the adjective
'locationless.'
- Locationless selling: selling that requires no actual store
- Locationless inventory: inventories that need no warehouse
- Locationless training: training without a classroom
- Locationless management: management without headquarters
Clearly the computer revolution has just begun."
