Construction of the Greensboro Loop is not
specifically an I-73 project, for it will
initially be signed I-40 or I-840. I-73 is to be routed upon it,
however, when projects north of Greensboro are completed .
**** While the project to upgrade I-73 is
unfunded and not set to start until after 2015, NCDOT hopes
to get a waiver to have these segments signed as a full interstate
when the Asheboro construction project is completed.
1. Though the road is signed as I-73/74
work is still needed on widening the shoulders on part of it to
meet interstate standards, this project should start in 2011.
