*** While
the project to upgrade I-73/74 is unfunded and not set to
start until after 2015, NCDOT hopes to get a waiver
to have this segment signed as a full interstate when the
Asheboro construction project is completed.
1. Though the road is signed as an interstate
work is still needed on widening the shoulders on part of
it to meet interstate standards. For I-73/74 this project should
start in 2011.
