Study in China Program |
Duke Study in China (DSIC) was inaugurated in 1982. It is one of the longest-running credit-granting programs in China administered by an American University. Currently offered in association with Washington University in St. Louis and Wesleyan University, the program offers an intensive (two credits for eight weeks of study) summer language program at Capital Normal University in Beijing and a spring language and culture program (four credits for one semester of study) at Yunnan Normal University in Kunming. The language courses (Level II to V) are offered during the summer and spring. A social science course (cross listed in cultural anthropology/history/political science) and a Directed Research Study course (both taught in English) are added to the spring program. Applicants from all accredited colleges and universities in the United States and Canada who will have completed at least one year of Chinese language study by the commencement of the program are eligible to apply. *The Summer 2008 program is now full.* |
