Spring 2008 Faculty Director - Judy Mu Professor Judy Mu received her B.A. in English Language and Literature from Beijing Normal University in 1982. She earned her M.A. from the Department of Linguistics at Wayne State University in 1988 and received her Ph.D. from the Department of Curriculum & Instruction at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Prof. Mu has been an instructor of Chinese at several universities since 1990. She was the Resident Director for the Washington University Chinese Program in the summers of 1998 and 1999. She has been involved with the Duke Study in China Program as either director or lead teacher continuously since 2000. She is currently a senior lecturer of Chinese and Coordinator of the Chinese Program at Washington University in St. Louis. Instructor - John Israel John Israel is Professor Emeritus of the University of Virginia. He has also taught at Agnes Scott College in Atlanta and Yunnan Normal University in Kunming. He has long term scholarly ties to Kunming and Yunnan province. In 1980, Professor Israel became the first American professor to conduct research in Kunming since 1949. Since then he has been instrumental in academic exchanges between Yunnan Normal University and the University of Virginia. |
