Science Learning

Like MANY other Duke students, your first biology or chemistry exam might have been a real eye opener.  The first exam is often the first clue that studying science in college requires more than learning facts, formulas, processes or how to solve a certain type of problem.

Knowing something about how to solve a problem is the first step; solutions, however, are generally the result of careful reasoning and a solid understanding of the concepts underlying a problem.

Now is a good time to take advantage of your academic resources.  With time and effort-and the willingness to learn new skills and strategies, science learning will become an exciting challenge, and solving complex problems will become doable and satisfying.  Students who rise to this challenge learn to think like scientists (and good doctors).
