uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public
Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance
with his measures.
Commentary:
This passage was to the Declaration at some point during the
committee's revision of Jefferson's draft. The passage appears
to be in Jefferson's handwriting. This passage was probably added
to provide a better illustration of the barriers the colonists
had encountered in seeking to have their voices heard.
