Duke Red Cross Adopts Elementary School in Slidell, Louisiana

posted Friday, September 16, 2005

As one of its largest ongoing hurricane relief operations, Duke University Red Cross is adopting Abney Elementary School from the St. Tammany Parish Public School District in Slidell, La. The Red Cross is currently holding an East Campus-wide drive for children's toys and books through Oct. 1 with all donations going directly to the children of Abney Elementary. Students are asked to bring donations to their RAs. The top three dormitories with the largest number of donations will receive free pizza parties, and the winning dorm will be named "The Most Charitable Dorm on East Campus." For more information about Abney Elementary, please visit stpsb.com. For general information about the drive, please contact Steven Lin at steven.y.lin@duke.edu.
