Duke Chapel to Hold Interfaith Prayer Service for Hurricane Victims Oct. 6

posted Tuesday, October 4, 2005

An interfaith prayer service for the victims of hurricanes Katrina and Rita will be held Thursday, Oct. 6, at 12:30 p.m. on the front steps of Duke Chapel. All are invited to attend.

"Disaster strikes people of all faiths. Our desire is to acknowledge the pain and loss suffered by victims of the recent hurricanes, and to ask God to help us move forward in hope and healing," said assistant dean Craig Kocher.

The prayer service will include a reflection from Chapel Dean Sam Wells, along with testimonials from two students whose lives were directly affected by the devastation caused by the storm. Members of the Duke religious life representing different faiths will offer prayers from their own traditions.
