  Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts

Information for Those Who Wish to Volunteer

Last Updated: Monday, September 5, 2005

There has been an exceptional response from those in the Duke community and others who wish to volunteer their time and skills to assist those in greatest need within the Gulf Coast states.

At this time, the most vital needs are blood and monetary donations.

DUMC is coordinating nursing volunteers, fielding names for future needs. Contact: Mary Ann Fuchs fuchs005@mc.duke.edu

For students who wish to explore possible volunteer opportunities in the coming weeks and months, contact Elaine Madison, Director of Duke's Community Service Center at elaine.madison@duke.edu.

An expanding list of available volunteer opportunities is located on the Community Service Center web site.

The local Red Cross is offering a required training for those who wish to take part in a service mission. The Red Cross is also asking for additional blood donations. You may phone them at 1-800-HELP-NOW or via mail at:
