The Duke Naval ROTC Drill Team is a competitive group of Midshipmen who participate in an annual drill competition held at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana during Mardi Gras. The Drill Team is usually composed of 4/C and 3/C Midshipmen, who perform in Squad Drill, Platoon Drill, and Color Guard. While on the team, members will learn unarmed drill and rifle manual. The competition itself consists of dozens of colleges from across the nation, who all practice for months in advance for this competition. As an added bonus to participate, Midshipmen will have many chances to enjoy the various cultural, traditional, and historic events of Mardi Gras - as well as have a bit of fun as a reward for all their hard work.
