Alcohol Awareness

As a community of scholars and learners, Duke expects those within its community to be responsible with the use of alcohol.

To help raise awareness around the dangers of alcohol abuse, Duke police offers alcohol education workshops and impairment demonstrations to student groups and campus organizations.

The alcohol awareness workshops and impairment demonstrations are tailored for students and explain the correlation between excessive drinking and social problems. The alcohol impairment demonstration program includes:

  • An interactive discussion about North Carolina alcohol law.
  • An impairment demonstration involving police field sobriety tests on volunteers using an impairment simulation device.
  • A demonstration of the Alco-Sensor, a portable breathalyzer that measures alcohol levels.
