International ID Cards

International Student Identity Cards are issued in the Student Service Center. To obtain an ISIC card, you must complete an application, provide an acceptable photograph and pay a $22 fee (check or cash).

The ISIC application is available from the Student Service Center. An online application and additional information regarding ISIC benefits and insurance, can be found on the ISIC website.

Photographs are acceptable in color or black and white and in any size that can be trimmed to 1 3/8" x 1 1/8". The trimmed photograph must only picture the student's face (hats and sunglasses may not obstruct a clear picture of the face). Photographs obtained from mall photo booths are acceptable. Photographs can also be obtained from the Duke photo directory and brought to the Student Service Center. The following instructions will enable you to retrieve your photo:

  1. Open your browser and go to the Duke Photo Directory located at http://directory.duke.edu/.
  2. Click on "Advanced Search."
  3. Click on the 3rd tab, "Authentication."
  4. Type in your name (First Last) in the "Please type your name" field.
  5. Click "Continue."
  6. Your information should appear, and click on your link under "Authenticate As."
  7. Type in your NetID Password in the "Password for..." field.
  8. Click the second tab, "Advanced Search."
  9. Type in your name (First Last) in the available field.
  10. Click "Search."
  11. The picture should appear. Right click on the picture and save your photo.
  12. Go to the "Resize Images online" website (www.shrinkpictures.com).
  13. Choose "Browse" to select your saved photo. In step 2, click on the "Custom" option and enter "155" in the box. Do not change anything in steps 3 and 4. Click on "Resize" in step 5.
  14. Right click on your picture and select "Send to printer."
  15. Before leaving this website, click on "Remove it now" to remove your resized photo from the temporary directory.
  16. Bring your printed photo to our office so we can use it to make your ISI card.

The ISIC card is valid from September 1 through December 31 of the following year.
