Full-time undergraduate students who are determined to be bonafide North Carolina residents are eligible to receive the North Carolina Legislative Tuition Grant (NCLTG). The NCLTG is a grant provided to undergraduate students at private North Carolina colleges and universities by the North Carolina legislature, and provides each North Carolina student with a fixed amount to be applied toward his or her tuition, thereby reducing the gap between public and private tuitions. The amount of the grant is set each year by the state legislature, and is applied towards a student's tuition each semester of eligibility.
In order to receive this grant, students must complete and submit an application form each year. The application must be submitted by the deadlines set by the Student Service Center in order to receive the grant for the semester in question. If a student applies and is approved for the grant in the fall semester, the grant will also be applied to the following spring semester, assuming the student remains a full-time student.
Applications are made available during the summer to all new and returning students with a non-Duke North Carolina permanent home address. The application can also be retrieved from the link in the right column on this site. Completed applications should be returned as soon as possible, but no later than the first day of classes for the applicable semester, to:
