Recycle for the Children
Needs Volunteers
Monday, September 4th, 2006
Each football season, Duke Recycles coordinates a service project, Recycle for the Children, to encourage recycling while raising money for the Duke Children’s Hospital. At home football games, community volunteers distribute 'Recycle for the Children' program information to tailgating fans around the stadium for two hours before kickoff while collecting recyclable materials from the crowd.
After the game, some volunteers collect additional recyclable materials from around the stadium. Proceeds from the sale of these recyclables are then donated to the Duke Children’s Hospital. All service volunteers receive free admission to the game (including their parents) and a small gift to show our appreciation. Additionally, an announcement is made over the PA system recognizing the groups for their participation in this charitable effort.
This service program is an excellent opportunity to make a positive impact on the environment while helping to support the Duke Children’s Hospital. We hope that your group will help us keep this program running strong.
If you have a group of school children, church members, scouts, a youth sports team or other service group that would like to help this year, please contact Duke Recycles.
Volunteer opportunities are limited, so please plan accordingly. Please contact David Bryant, 660-4280, for additional information or to volunteer your group for this event.
