Tour the "Green" Attributes of Duke's French Family Science Center
WHEN: Thursday, December, 14, 2006, 10:00am
WHERE: Bryan Student Center, meet at traffic circle
The $115 million, 280,000 square-foot French Family Science Center is almost complete. This state-of-the-art building will hold research and teaching laboratories for genomics, biological chemistry, materials science, nanoscience, physical biology and bioinformatics. The building will also bring together several Arts & Science disciplines under one roof, providing space for the departments of chemistry and biology, biological anthropology and anatomy, mathematics and physics.
Looking beyond the departments and disciplines moving into this new building, it is important to recognize the emphasis Duke has placed on making sure this facility is a healthy, productive, LEED certified, green building. The Science Center is anticipated to receive a Silver LEED rating because of its many sustainable attributes such as two green roofs, use of certified wood, recycled and regional materials and a landscape plan that included soil conservation and relocation of existing trees and plants.
Don’t miss this opportunity to join Skanska engineers to tour the facility and see the many sustainable elements of this newest addition to the Duke landscape.
Please RSVP to Tavey McDaniel if you plan to attend the tour. Space is limited.
