Take the SmartCommute Challenge

Win a free vacation!

WHEN: April 15th, 2008 - May 30th, 2008

Drive Less. Live More. Choosing to drive less by taking the bus, ridesharing, biking, or teleworking, saves money on gas, insurance, and wear and tear on your vehicle. Commute alternatives also lessen your impact on the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and harmful air pollution. A smarter commute can also give you the freedom to turn once wasted commute time into time spent doing other things - sleeping a few more minutes on telework days, talking to friends in your vanpool, reading a magazine on the bus, or getting in shape by walking or biking. The benefits of smartcommuting can be felt even if you use a commute alternative just once or twice a week. Take the SmartCommute Challenge today!

The SmartCommute Challenge is an annual non-profit public service campaign that works to reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality in the Triangle. From April 15 through May 30, any employee or college student who commutes to work or campus in Wake, Durham, or Orange County can participate. To enter the Challenge, make your online pledge that at least once before May 30 you will carpool, vanpool, bike or walk, ride the bus, or telework (work from home).

Everyone who takes the Challenge will be entered into a drawing to win one of several prizes, including a free vacation for two!
