Despite recent rain, Durham County, like many counties in North Carolina, is still suffering from severe drought conditions and struggling to overcome the worst drought
in recorded history. Duke is working to reduce water consumption in accordance with the city of Durham's water restrictions and urging faculty, staff and students to conserve
every day.

Duke
has developed a conservation plan to comply with all stages of Durham's water

Dukes Showers Employees, Students with Free Fixtures
Since last fall, Duke has distributed nearly 9,000 free low-flow showerheads to employees and off-campus students. About 1,000 remaining showerheads will be given away in
coming months. Distribution dates will be announced on the Duke Sustainability web site and the Duke Today web site.
