The student chapter of the Association for
Computing Machinery at the University of Illinois
is hosting Reflections | Projections, its annual
student computing conference, on October 2-4,
1998, and we want you to attend.
Held in the Digital Computer Lab on campus,
Reflections | Projections offers students from

computer industry professionals and to peek into
the future of computing.

will be recruiting in the DCL atrium, including
Abbott Laboratories; Crowe, Chizek, and Company
LLP; CSG Systems, Inc.; International
Telecommunication Data Systems; Lante
Corporation; Lucent Technologies; Motorola, Inc.;
PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP; STR; and Wolfram
Research, Inc.
Bjarne Stroustrup, the creator of C++, will
deliver the keynote address on Saturday. In
addition, there are sessions covering these and
more topics: Distributed Computing using Java

Also returning for its fourth year is
MechMania, an artificial intelligence programming
contest. Last year, teams from 8 different states
battled to colonize extraterrestrial landscapes
with their mechanical warriors. This year, 15
teams will compete to conquer the Vinyl Frontier.
The contest is sponsored by Trilogy.
