Sometimes after a hectic week of classes, you just need to relax and have fun with your friends. The sisters of AEPhi participate in a wide variety of social activities, planned by a social chair, that range from movie nights and basketball-watching to date functions and semi-formals. Because AEPhi is somewhat smaller than the other sororities at Duke, social activities often include most of the chapter and each member gets a chance to spend time with other sisters.

In AEPhi, we feel that the purpose of social activities is to provide an opportunity for sisters to enjoy themselves. Our social events are not focused on alcohol, and no alcohol is paid for with chapter funds.

Our social chair plans both events that promote sister bonding and events where sisters can bring their friends outside of the sorority. We feel that sisterhood is a crucial part of membership in AEPhi, and activities such as dinner outings, mall trips, and cultural events help strengthen the bond between sisters by spending time toward a shared purpose.

Social events such as date functions, parties, and formals adhere to our belief that AEPhi becomes a part of your life — it doesn't become your life. In addition to sisterhood events, AEPhi plans social events where sisters can share time with their friends outside of AEPhi. This combination of social events helps us make sure that membership in AEPhi is rewarding, memorable — and ultimately, fun!
