American Medical Women's Association

Duke University School of Medicine

The American Medical Women's Association (AMWA) is an organization of over 10,000 women physicians and medical students dedicated to serving as the unique voice for women's health and the advancement of women in medicine. The Duke AMWA chapter is a well established, active group within the Duke School of Medicine community, which strives to promote the goal of improving women's health through a variety of activities.

Our group stands by the ideals stated within the AMWA vision and mission statements:

AMWA Vision Statement
The American Medical Women's Association empowers women to lead in improving health for all, within a model that reflects the unique perspective of women.

AMWA Mission Statement
The American Medical Women's Association is an organization which functions at the local, national, and international level to advance women in medicine and improve women's health. We achieve this by providing and developing leadership, advocacy, education, expertise, mentoring, and strategic alliances.
