Air and Waste Management Association

Duke University Student Chapter

The Air and Waste Management Association is a highly regarded nonprofit technical, scientific, and educational organization with more than 9,000 members in over 65 countries. Most members have backgrounds in engineering, physical and social sciences, health and medicine, and law.

The Duke University student chapter of the Air and Waste Management Association (A&WMA) was founded in the fall of 1997. We include students from several different disciplines including environmental engineering, environmental mangement, and computer modeling among others. As a student chapter we benefit from all the advantages of the national A&WMA organization which includes participation in regional lectures and meetings, and introduction to institutional and industrial contacts.

This coming summer we are planning to send a student, all expenses paid, to the annual A&WMA convention which will be held in Baltimore, MD. The conference will offer an opportunity to present current research and is a great experience to meet members of regulatory and industrial agencies, as well as speak to product companies and consultation firms.
