This 1996 paper by an anthropology graduate student concerns the "symbolic role of alcohol in the lives of college students" at Duke, and the differing views of students and faculty on alcohol use. It includes students' reactions to changes in Duke's alcohol policy and the attempts to alter the residential and intellectual climate. The study is based on interviews, surveys, and journals kept by students in the author's University Writing Course.Wilson, Robin. The History of Alcohol at Duke University Since 1960.
