History: The Faculty Club of Trinity College was founded in 1918, with History professor W.K. Boyd as first president. The Duke Faculty Club is a non-profit non-stock corporation, chartered in 1933, and funded entirely by the membership. The club building is located near the golf course.Organization: The collection is arranged into nine series: 1. Charter and Bylaws, 1933-1960 2. Correspondence, 1926-1974, n.d. 3. Contents: Minutes, correspondence, membership lists, bylaws, programs, memoranda, questionnaires, and other records of the club, with inclusive dates 1918-1976; includes the records of the Board of Governors. The official file was originally bound and consists of minutes, membership lists, financial records, correspondence and other material from the period 1933-1953. There is also a chronological file of correspondence and miscellaneous records for the period 1930-1968. Topics in the records include the use of the Nello Teer, Jr. House as a club building, annual events, such as Christmas parties, a proposed university medical guild and the provision of health insurance for the faculty (1932), and reports and memoranda concerning faculty-student and faculty-administration relations. The early records of the club provide documentation about the activities of the faculty in the period following the University's founding.
