Robbie Link is one of the most active musicians in North Carolina. A performer and teacher of the double bass, cello, electric bass, viola da gamba and violone, he also runs Red Hawk Music, which does repairs, sales and rentals of violin family instruments. Mr. Link free-lances and records with many jazz, chamber music and folk music
ensembles, and enjoys performing everything from Baroque to Bluegrass. He
taught bass at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for 15
years and now maintains a private teaching studio in addition to his
DUSS duties.
Mr. Link attended the School
of Music at Indiana University in
Bloomington, Indiana and the North Carolina School of the Arts in
Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He has performed with the North Carolina
Symphony, The Opera Company of North Carolina, North Carolina Theater,
the Richmond Symphony, and the Louisville Symphony as well as with many
jazz notables including Maxine Sullivan, Tal Farlow, Mose Alison, Mark
Murphy, Carol Sloane, Margaret Whiting, Bobby Enriquez, Joanne Brackeen
and Scott Hamilton. He has also appeared on numerous jazz and folk music
recordings.
