The year is 2014, 14 years after a catastrophe known as the Second Impact wiped out a large portion of mankind and destroyed Antarctica. It is thought that the Second Impact was caused by a being known only as an Angel. Now more Angels have returned, attacking Japan one at a time, each one more powerful than the last. The only force able to withstand the Angels are the Evangelions, gigantic humanoid "robots" that can only be piloted by 14-year old children. It sounds simple, but mysteries abound. Are the Evangelions really just robots or are they actually alive? Just what are the Angels? And what is the secret agenda of NERV, the agency which created the Evangelions and is dedicated to destroying the Angels? Welcome to the world of Neon Genesis Evangelion
