Duke-Durham Electronics Recycling Day

Duke Recycles, Sustainable Duke, Northgate Mall and Creative Recycling, Inc. invite the general public to drop off used electronic devices for recycling at our Electronics Recycling Day event, April 18th at Northgate Mall in Durham. The event is part of Earth Month at Duke, and the organizers would like your help getting the word out.
The event is an excellent opportunity to get rid of all your broken or disregarded electronic waste at no cost. Acceptable items include:

- Computers – CPU’s and laptops, mainframes, peripherals
- Monitors – CRT’s and flat screens
- Telephones, Cell phones and Telephone systems
- Fax Machines and Central Office Equipment
- Printers and Copiers
- Televisions ($10 charge applies)
- Banking and Financial Equipment
- Medical Equipment
- Rechargeable batteries
- Electronic Circuit boards and components
- Stereo Equipment, Games, PDA’s
Computers in reusable condition can be donated to local organizations such as Durham Public Schools (Call 560-2360 to confirm, or visit the DPS website) for re-use. All Duke University property should be disposed of through Duke's Surplus Property Management System, which has donated thousands of reusable computers to local non-profits each year [story].
