EVENT: Help Duke Plant 100 Trees on East Campus
WHEN: Wednesday, October 14, 11:00 AM - 3:30 PM (Rain or Shine)
WHERE: Meet at the East Campus lawn directly behind Washington Duke statue
Come out and help demonstrate Duke's commitment to sustainability and carbon nuetrality by planting 100 trees on East Campus. Participants will receive free lunch, t-shirts and hats! Please contact Roger Conner to indicate that you will be attending.
In 2008, Duke University became one of the first 29 schools in the nation, as well as the first university in North Carolina, to receive the designation of Tree Campus USA and celebrated with a tree planting last Arbor Day. Tree Campus USA is a new national program honoring universities for promoting healthy urban forest management and engaging the campus community in environmental stewardship. The trees for this planting will be donated to Duke by the Arbor Day Foundation and Toyota.
