-Ashley Judd, known for her roles in movies such as Double Jeopardy and Kiss the Girls

 
  - Jane Pauley, host of "Dateline NBC", co-host of the popular NBC television program, "Today," substitute news anchor of NBC Nightly News.
- Jann Carl, Entertainment Tonight news anchor  
 

-Kelly Goldsmith, Duke '01 Kelly competed on the popular television reality program Survivor: Australia

-Kate Spade, Designer of stylish handbags, shoes, and stationary.

 

Architecture :
- Frances Sutton Schmitz , first woman architect registered in her state

Business :
- Ruth Leach Pollack , first woman vice president of IBM
- Loretta McCarthy , was VP of Industry and Marketing and Retail Development for the American Express Card. Currently VP Marketing, Operations of Oppenheimer Management Corp.

Law :
- Susan Harrell Black , Florida 's first woman federal judge
- Emma Fall Schofield , first woman judge in New England

Engineering :
- Edith Clarke , first woman to receive an electrical engineering degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Sports :
- Patty Berg , champion golfer, U.S. Open winner in 1946
- Donna DeVarona , a two-time gold medallist in Olympic swimming, first woman sportscaster in network television
- Doris Hart , won every major tennis tournament in the world, starting with Wimbledon in 1951
