No two MAT candidates have identical programs. The course
of study is highly individualized and reflects the student's interests, needs,
and future teaching plans. Advising within the MAT Program is a two-tiered
process. Primary advising on course selection is based on the student's background
and interests,
State Department of Public Instruction certification
requirements, and recommendations of the professional societies to which
the student aspires. Therefore the advising process is shared both by MAT
program administrators, who are well versed in certification and professional
society requirements, and by advisors within the graduate department, who
are best qualified to discuss their departments’ offerings.
