NC Alpha History
Phi Delta Theta North Carolina Alpha was first colonized at Trinity college in 1878. First to sign the bond was brother Philemon Holland Jr. There were eleven other men to sign the bond that year: George M. Bulla, Thomas L. White, Willie H. Robbins, Ginnada T. Sikes, Leonidas T. Blair, Byron N. Boddie, William D. Browne, Jesse D. Bundy, Samuel E. Pope, Neveston R. Richardson, and Caleb D. Bell.
Eventually the face of the University would change as the Duke family took over the institution. However, the brothers of Phi Delta Theta NC Alpha continued to uphold the strong values and tradition of our fraternity. The fraternity has a strong tradition of excellence in the Duke community, boasting a strong collection of the University's top graduates. Today Phi Delta Theta strives to maintain the high standards set by those brothers who have walked these halls before us.
The North Carolina Alpha Chapter of Phi Delta Theta has initiated more than 1600 brothers since its founding.
