Rush Phi Delt!
Open Letter to Future Brothers
Dear Sir,
You may be wondering whether or not joining a fraternity is the right choice to make. You no doubt already have a lot of ideas regarding the nature of fraternity.
Fraternities offer a unique experience at Duke not found in any other community. You may think fraternities are just about great parties and social status. The Greek Fraternity is may confer all these things, but it is founded on a much more substantive belief. Duke is an elite university, and its fraternities the elite of fraternities.
There is no greater joy for a Greek man than to stand beside a member of his chapter and call him brother. We call each other brothers because we are more than friends. A friendship may be transient, but brotherhood lasts a lifetime. This translates into the continued involvement of alumni in the activities of the chapter, and lives of its brothers. All Greeks enjoy this lasting commitment, not as a responsibility, but as a blessing.
Phi Delta Theta is composed of men who pride themselves on being the best they can be. We constantly challenge ourselves and each other to excel in all areas of our lives. Phi Delta Theta connects you to decades of alumni, whom are interested in taking an active part in your life. The fraternity is a group of very strongly connected people who will go great distances to assist their fraternity brothers in need.
You may be asking yourself whether Phi Delta Theta is the right choice for you as a fraternity. We have several resources for you to explore. We hope you'll browse our website to answer your basic questions. The Bond of Phi Delta Theta, our founding document, and the principles enshrined therein help us go far in all our pursuits.
Of course there is no substitute for learning about the chapter than talking with a brother. We look forward to seeing you at any of our social events, or in any other capacity. Throughout, we actively encourage you to ask, "Would I like to call these men my brothers?" For all of us the answer was an emphatic yes, and we're sure you'll feel the same.
If you have any questions about Rush in general, or Rushing Phi Delta Theta in particular, contact any one of the brothers.
We're all here to help you make the right choice!
