Curriculum

The Arabic Curriculum The Arabic curriculum is organized to translate the broad-level description set by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) Proficiency Guidelines into a general, goal-oriented design. These goals are used as an organizing principle for the curriculum in regard to the choice of teaching materials, syllabus design, textbooks, tests, and evaluations of student progress. Textbooks are proficiency-based and authored by the developers of this approach. Testing: The oral proficiency Interview created by ACTFL is used for oral testing. Audiovisual materials from the target (Arabic) culture are also used to enhance the teaching of culture and idioms. SCOLA, films, documentaries, Arabic-language Sesame Street, songs, and cartoons are some of the devices used for the teaching of listening comprehension at all levels.
