ACES

The sequence of courses in modern Hebrew language is divided into three segments: two semesters each of elementary, intermediate, and advanced levels of language instruction, including grammar, conversation, writing, and discussions of the cultural environments in which modern Hebrew has been spoken and written during the past one hundred and twenty years. Beyond this six-semester sequence, courses are taught in advanced topics in literary and cultural analysis.

In all courses, a communicative approach to language study is stressed. That means we believe in a balance of conversation and grammar, writing and reading, all based on the development of skills necessary for the successful functioning within a Hebrew language environment.

Guidelines for placement:

If you have prior knowledge of Modern Hebrew, we recommend you contact the department for placement advice.
