Kyushu University
Homestay Option: Semester - No / Summer - Yes
Maximum Language Credit: 1
Strong Points:
Unlike other programs where American students spend lots of time together with each other, this program assigns one Kyushu University student to one foreign student and this tutor program allows program participants to literally spend everyday with Japanese friends and stay at home with Japanese family, which really gave me a full exposure to the Japanese culture of college students and an old couple as well. The tuition also is very affordable when compared with other programs sponsored by American universities. Non-language classes are all taught by foreign visiting professors who all have English proficiency, and some of them are very efficient in teaching. (summer, 2006)
Weak Points:
The length of the program is not very long; it’s only about six weeks. I think if it’s more than two months like Princeton program, it would be even better for students to learn Japanese language. (summer, 2006)
