Please take the time to read this note from a Duke ADPi alum, Class of 1997:

Last April, a fellow Omicron alum and my best friend, Rachel Haberkern Sherman, was killed in a car accident on her way home from our 10 year Duke Reunion. Her family has set up an wonderful website to honor her and provide information about a new memorial scholarship program honoring her and her deep love of Duke. The program is focused on providing a woman who demonstrates outstanding commitment to community service, as Rachel did, with a scholarship to Duke. Duke has committed, through it's financial aid initiative, to match all donations and pledges that come in by the end of this month.

I am trying to help her family get the word out to as many people as possible about the website that honors her and this wonderful program. The website is http://rachelsherman.org/. The "About Rachel" page tells a bit about her and her time at Duke, including her connection to ADPi. Rachel was what we called the "pledge trainer" (perhaps officially new membership coordinator?), among other officer positions, and always credited ADPi with some of her most important developmental leadership experiences.

I have been amazed by how many people Rachel and her spirit have touched, both among those who met and knew her and those who never had the honor. While there is no deadline for donations to the scholarship fund, donations and pledges made by the end of March are assured a match from Duke, which will be a great help to getting the fund on its way.
