EducationThe Vice President of Education is responsible for teaching the chapter membership about the local chapter, AOII history and traditions, the regional and international organization, and the life long opportunities and commitment of AOII membership. Membership education is a continuum of growth, beginning with the new member orientation, through rituals and initiation, and continuing on for a lifetime as an alumna. Informed, educated members are a vital component of our organization. This is accomplished in many ways: 1) through ritual reviews 2) informing the member of chapter specifics (ex: How does the money we raise for philanthropy help arthritis research?) 3) having sister highlights 4) conducting "real life" modules consisting of information about the care for your body, to the importance of humor in ones life, to being a better listener, to alcohol and rape awareness, to anything that you could possibly think of. 5) using Alpha Omicron Pi's BRIDGES (Building Relationships and Ideals, Developing Goals, and Enriching Self) program is another way that we try to educate sisters about AOII's role as a societal organization rather than just a social organization. |
