Projects
The main project for this section of Duke Red Cross is to provide CPR and First Aid training to students as well as Durham workers. Students in this committee have the opportunity to enroll in a CPR/First Aid instructor training course which certifies them to teach certification classes of their own. Utilizing this our committee aims to offer such certification classes at an affordable price to workers in the Durham community who would otherwise not be able to afford such a class and who could greatly benefit (i.e. increased job offers) through this certification. In addition this training is employed to promote CPR/First-Aid training abroad and a program is being established to offer after-school CPR training to high school students. Please email me (jmr30 [at]duke[dot]edu) if you are interested in getting trained in CPR and First Aid. I can email you a CPR and First Aid course schedule at the Durham (Central NC) Chapter, which is just 5 miles from Duke's campus. People who are interested in taking the course there can call the chapter & I may be able to see about coordinating rides if they want. We will also be having a course in CPR/First Aid on campus some time later this semester, and I'll send you a copy of the instructor course information as soon as I can get it. CPR and First Aid Training Schedule First Aid Kits We are in the process of exploring ways to increase on-campus access to first aid kits, including trying to distribute kits to RAs and other interested individuals. If you are interested in working on this project, please contact Joe Reardon. Assistant Chairs Assistant Chair: Erica Bates Home // Volunteer // Back to Top |
