James Applewhite has published numerous volumes of poetry including Statues of the Grass, River Writing: an Eno Journal, and Daytime and Starlight. He has been awarded a National Endowment for the Arts grant, a Guggenheim fellowship, the North Carolina Poetry Society Award, the Jean Stein Award in Poetry from the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters and a North Carolina Award in Literature. Mr. Applewhite currently serves as a professor of creative writing and American literature at Duke University.
