BSA

The time has come again for spring planning for this year’s BSAI weekend! Committee descriptions for BSAI 2007 are listed below. If interested in any of the following committees, or just generally helping out with BSAI, please contact Channing Mathews cjm20@duke.edu. Sydney Thomas sydney.thomas@duke.edu, or Shari Baker shari.baker@duke.edu ASAP. You can also pick up this information in the BSA office.

Host/Registration Committee

This committee's main job will be to match the prospective freshman with current students who would be able to house and host them for the weekend. It will also be in control of the registration of the prospective freshman when they arrive on Thursday, March 24th.

Student Tour/ Garden Festivities

This committee will be responsible for giving the prospective freshman tours of the campus on the day that they arrive, which will be Thursday March 22nd. The tours are planned to end in the Gardens where the prospective freshman will have free time/picnic lunch. This leads to the committee's other responsibilities which include conducting the garden festivities (ultimate Frisbee etc.). This includes coming up with things that the freshman could do during this free time.

Upperclassmen Rap Session

This committee's job will be to recruit upperclassmen students to come together to talk about their experiences at Duke. These upperclassmen will also be expected to answer questions that the pre-frosh have during this time.

Black Faculty Brunch

Those in charge of this affair will contact black faculty and invite them to the brunch. They will also be in charge of coordinating the brunch. It will be held Sunday March 25th at 11 a.m. This brunch is intended to give the prospective students a chance to meet the esteemed Black faculty at Duke.

Real Deal

The students who choose to participate in this committee will be responsible for creating a panel of current students at Duke willing to share their Duke experience with the prospective freshman. The students chosen for the panel should also be open to answering any questions that the prospective students may have.

Historian

The historian committee will be in charge of capturing the entire experience of the prospective freshman by camera. The committee will also be responsible for putting together a slide show of the prospective freshman for the "Farewell Dinner" held Saturday, March 24th.
