- Community Service Center The Duke CSC is an organization that allows students to learn about the numerous volunteer and community service activities available to students, faculty and employees. The CSC is staffed by both full-time employees and student volunteers.
- Duke Homestead Duke Homestead is a living museum of tobacco history offering activities that demonstrate early farming techniques and manufacturing processes which made tobacco such an essential mainstay of the state's economy.
- Durham Affordable Housing Coalition The DAHC supports the development of, and accessibility to, decent, affordable housing (rental and home ownership) in Durham. The DAHC provides housing and home ownership counseling, technical assistance in housing development, and promotes affordable housing.
- Durham Rescue Mission The Durham Rescue Mission is a Christian-based organization providing food, clothing and shelter to homeless and/or needy men, women (single mothers) and children.
- Food Bank of North Carolina/Durham The Food Bank of North Carolina/Durham solicits and collects surplus food and distributes to agencies feeding the needy.
- Habitat Hand-Me-Ups Store Habitat Hand-Me-Ups Store is a retail store with furniture and appliances whose profits go to support Habitat for Humanity in Durham.
- Historic Preservation Society of Durham The Historic Preservation Society of Durham works to preserve the history, architecture and cultural heritage of Durham and Durham County and to also serve as an institution for the education of citizens through the promotion and appreciation of this heritage.
- Liberty Arts, Inc. Liberty Arts, Inc, is a non-profit sculpture studio.
- Meals on Wheels Each weekday, Meals on Wheels of Durham provides a hot, home delivered meal to Durham County residents who are unable to provide or prepare meals for themselves.
- NC Museum of Life and Science The NC Museum of Life and Science is a regional science-technology center dedicated to furthering education in the natural and physical sciences for people of all ages.
- Old West Durham Neighborhood Association OWDNA’s goal is to build a sense of community in the neighborhood that borders Duke’s East Campus through monthly meetings, newsletters and community events.
- Pennies for Change Pennies for Change provides extra funding for the Durham Crisis Response center.
- Read Seed Read Seed distributes new, free age-appropriate books to low-income children in an effort to strengthen families through reading.
- Ronald McDonald House The Ronald McDonald House provides a home-like setting that is safe and affordable for seriously ill children and their families while the child receives medical treatment.
- Salvation Army Boy’s and Girl’s Club The Salvation Army Boy’s and Girl’s Club works collectively with families, schools, and outside agencies to provide at-risk youth with a safe, positive and nurturing after-school environment.
- Scrap Exchange The Scrap Exchange is an agency that cleans scraps from industries and businesses to be used for educational and creative purposes.
- SEEDS SEEDS challenges and supports neighborhood residents, community activist, city governments and corporations to bring groups together to help transform underutilized and vacant urban land into productive, community-controlled gardens.
- Threshold Threshold is a psychosocial rehabilitation clubhouse for adults with serious and persistent mental illness.
- TROSA TROSA is a two-year residential self-help program for substance abusers. Residents enter the program free of charge and support each other in maintaining sobriety, acquiring education and gaining work experience.
- Urban Ministries Community Kitchen Urban Ministries Community Kitchen provides free breakfast and lunch to those in need.
- Watts Elementary School Watts Elementary School is an Durham elementary school off East Campus.
