The Consortium in Latin American & Caribbean Studies

at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University

Funding Opportunities

As a result of funding received by the Carolina and Duke Consortium from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the U.S. Department of Education, the Tinker Foundation Inc., and the Ford Foundation, the Consortium is able to offer a number of funding opportunities for Latin Americanist graduate students and faculty at Duke and UNC-CH.

Please note that the competitions are administered separately on each campus, and usually the application deadlines vary between campuses as well. Detailed guidelines about each competition will be distributed throughout the year via mail and our list serve. For more information, or if you have specific questions, you should contact the Carolina and Duke Consortium Office on your campus.

Generally, proposals are invited by an established deadline and are then reviewed by faculty committees. It should be noted that in selecting recipients for these various awards, qualified applicants who have participated actively in the academic functions of the Carolina and Duke Consortium will be given preference over those who have rarely been seen.
