Environment in Latin America

(Coordinated by Prof. Flora Lu, UNC-CH Curriculum in Ecology, email flora@email.unc.edu; Prof. Robert Healy, Duke, Nicholas School of the Environment, email healy@duke.edu; Ian Varley, Duke Nicholas School of the Environment, email iav3@duke.edu; Angela Gillingham, Duke Nicholas School of the Environment, email ang6@duke.edu; Liza Guzman, UNC Curriculum in Ecology, email lagenodelphis2@yahoo.com).

With active participation from students and faculty from Duke, UNC, and NCSU, this working group will continue to discuss critical environmental issues affecting Latin America and the Amazon and attempt to improve our understanding of the social, historical, political, and cultural contexts in which those environmental issues are embedded. The group will meet regularly for presentations by guest speakers, for research presentations by participating students. They will also work to increase the working group's network both within and beyond the academic community in the Triangle.
