CHANCE is a tutoring program provided by Duke University students for all interested Durham high school students. CHANCE provides free subject tutoring and SAT tutoring.

For High School Students
CHANCE is a free tutoring service provided to all Durham high school students. CHANCE meets once a week in the West Duke Building on Duke University's East Campus. The schedule runs each week as follows:

Subject Tutoring: 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM
SAT Tutoring: 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM

All tutoring programs are free and provided as a service to local high school students by CHANCE and the Duke students involved. For more information about how to take advantage of this opportunity, please click here.

For Duke Students
To fulfill its commitment to the community, CHANCE relies on Duke students to act as tutors. Duke students may participate as tutors for subject tutoring, SAT tutoring, or both. It is a minimal commitment of one hour per week, but it is important for each tutor to indeed commit to CHANCE and attend the sessions every week as each tutor is paired one-on-one with a student at the beginning of the year. The students and tutors both benefit more from the relationship if they are together each week. This also enhances the mentorship role that the tutor can provide to the students. Although a small commitment, it is our guarantee that you will find the experience extremely satisfying and rewarding.
