It took one child.
It took one child to open our eyes. An orphan in China without hope of ever being adopted. Without hope of even surviving. A child who is one of millions.
It took one child to stir a soul. An American teenager witnesses the hardships of so many and sees only hope. He envisions a solution and builds a foundation of caring.
It took one child to complete a family. As an adopting family's dream is brought to fulfillment, an adopted child is brought to life.
It took one child to connect two worlds. An understanding of Chinese culture is fostered in America. And an appreciation of American charity is furthered in China.
It took one child to empower so many. A child's life is touched and two lives are changed. Those that help China Care are rewarded so richly, they are compelled to pass the feeling on to others.
Duke China Care is a service organization at Duke University and a chapter of the national China Care Foundation. Founded in February 2006, our goal is to help Chinese orphans through fundraising for foster care, renovating orphanages, financial aid for adopting parents, and surgeries for orphans that are born with special needs. Cultural and mentorship activities are planned for adopted Chinese children in the local area to foster pride in, and understanding of, their birth heritage.
