OUR CAUSEUpdate: The National China Care Foundation has partnered with another non-profit called Half the Sky Foundation that works to improve the lives of orphans in China. This partnership has enabled National China Care Foundation to open a new medical care facility in Beijing. The foundation have since moved the children awaiting and recovering from surgery into the new home, called The China Care Program (TCCP). One of the orphans in TCCP a two and a half year old girl who suffers from a complicated heart defect and arm deformity. She has been on heart medication because of her low oxygen saturation levels. This girl is in need of a heart catheterization in order to further diagnose and treat her heart defect. The estimated cost for her procedure is $6,000. Upon hearing news about this precious girl, Duke China Care has agreed to donate the $2000 raised from the 2nd Annual International Adoption Night in February, 2009 to fund her surgery. Since then we have received news that this girl had surgery to insert a catheter in her heart and is currently recoving at The China Care Program. She is currently awaiting international adoption. |
