Zhaochun's funeral
service will be held at
Duke Chapel at 2:30pm, Sunday, June 20. First Baptist Church is
coordinating the funeral agenda. Zhaochun's parents will arrive at Duke tomorrow
night and stay until the 23rd. International house has prepared an apartment on
central campus for Zhaochun's parents.
Our
donation collecting will end by midnight
of Sunday, June 20. The total amount will be delivered to Zhaochun's family
during the funeral. We appreciate all of your donations and your postings in the
guestbook. Your efforts have made a difference to the family at this very sad
and traumatic time.
A volunteer is needed to serve as translator
during the funeral. Temporary housing,
for example, an extra room in your apartment or house, is needed to accommodate
Zhaochun and Yuan's friends from other states. Please contact Xing Zong at
xing.zong@duke.edu if you are willing to
help.

Zhaochun's funeral will be held in Duke
Chapel. The exact date of the funeral will be posted as soon as Zhaochun's
family reach their final decision. Legal issues are being well taken care of.
Zhaochun's parents will arrive at Duke on
Wednesday, June 16th, and stay until the 23rd. Dean Kristina Johnson of the
Pratt School of Engineering has graciously paid for their airline tickets.
International house is helping with the housing arrangement.

We lost Zhaochun Xu in a car accident, this Sunday night at approximately 11:30 pm. "The accident occurred on 15-501 Bypass near the Erwin Road exit. Reports are that Zhaochun's car was rear-ended and went down the embankment. He was taken immediately to Duke hospital but subsequently died at 2 am. He is survived by his wife, Yuan Liu, who was not seriously injured in the accident, but has been admitted to Duke hospital." Zhaochun was a PhD student in the department of Electrical & Computer Engineering. The Chinese Community at Duke is in mourning over the loss of Zhaochun and DCSSA is trying our best to help with the funeral affairs, including helping Xu's parents come to Durham as soon as possible, taking care of Yuan, coordinating a donation for Xu and following up the car accident.
