The Center for Tropical Conservation, located at Duke University in Durham, NC, is a nonprofit organization seeking to address the global environmental crisis, particularly as it affects the developing countries of the tropics, through a tripartite program of research, training, and communication.

Dr. John Terborgh, James B. Duke Professor of Environmental Sciences at Duke University, and Director of the CTC, operates Cocha Cashu Biological Station, in Manu Biosphere Reserve, Peru. Located in the remote Peruvian Amazon, Cocha Cashu has hosted researchers from all over the world in a variety of fields.
