Duke-Durham Hunger Alliance
Duke-Durham Hunger Alliance
With a little time and hard work, we can help change the city we now call home.
We live on an elite campus where 60% Duke students' families earn over $100,000 per year. Step outside into the rest of Durham and you'll realize that it's home to the highest poverty rate in the region, with more than 24% of Durham County's children living in poverty and 41% of the school age children relying on subsidized lunch programs. Why let a child go hungry while we constantly swipe our DukeCard at all the campus eateries? With a little time and hard work, we can help change the city we now call home. This is where the Duke-Durham Hunger Alliance comes in. Our mission is to help alleviate hunger in Durham and surrounding areas through volunteering and fundraising efforts.
