Rush = Recruitment
A common
misunderstanding upon many prospective fraternity men is the word
“rush.” Rush simply
means recruitment. This is the
process by which prospective members look at fraternities and fraternities
look at members. There is no
obligation to going through the rush process, just the opportunity to make
some life-long friends.

Duke University Rush
At Duke University, formal recruitment for Interfraternity Council
Fraternities is the first three weeks of the Spring Semester, roughly
ending around the beginning of February.
However, prospective members are still encouraged to go around
during the Fall Semester and see what each fraternity is like. There are fraternity men in your seminar
class, on your athletic team, in your student group, and serving as
R.A.’s on East Campus. You are
highly encouraged by the Interfraternity
Council to meet fraternity men in the fall and talk with them about
fraternity life. Keep in mind, just
as you may be looking for a solid group of friends for the rest of college,
these guys are looking for some new brothers as well.
For specific
questions about rush at Duke, email IFC
Recruitment at ifc-recruit@duke.edu.
Delta Kappa Epsilon Rush
Here at Deke, we
follow the IFC’s rush guidelines, meaning we conduct our rush during
the first three weeks of the spring semester. We’ll have a Theme Party,
we’ll go to our semi-formal in Chapel Hill, and we’ll play Zamboni, among many
other things. However, just as IFC encourages prospective members to find
out as much as possible about fraternities in the fall, if you are
interested in Delta Kappa Epsilon we encourage you to email us, swing by section, or just stop and talk to us when you see
us around campus.
You can find us
involved with the following activities, among others:

Immerse yourself in a lifelong
experience. Join a genuine brotherhood of friends in a place where you can
be excited to live.
Our fraternity breeds leaders. We are
proud to count among our brothers six U.S. Presidents, the most recent being President
George W. Bush. Founded in 1844 at Yale University, and now with scores of chapters
internationally, Delta Kappa Epsilon offers its brothers a common history
and a rich tradition. Our ties as a national fraternity are unusually
strong, a fact which becomes evident through our networks, shared resources
and social associations. Moreover, the bonds of DKE prove thicker than
blood when a member realizes his brothers are there both locally and
nationally.
We, the brothers of the Epsilon Rho
chapter of Delta Kappa Epsilon, are proud of our heritage. We promote our
principal ideas of brotherhood, scholarship, and leadership in a manner
that would make our forebearers proud. We are both brothers and true
friends, and while we work hard, rest assured we find plenty of time to
play just as hard. Each brother strives equally to be "a gentleman, a
scholar, and a jolly good fellow."
